Transfer Wegener pension scheme to PGB finalised
Further to the press release of 14 October 2009 announcing our declaration of intent concerning the transfer of the Algemeen Pensioenfonds Wegener (APW) to Pensioenfonds for the Grafische Bedrijven (PGB) 1, we can now announce that a final agreement on this transfer has been reached.
On 1 January 2010, the APW company pension fund of Koninklijke Wegener NV 2 transferred the pension entitlements, the effective pensions and the capital to PGB. APW will disband itself in mid-2010. APW’s invested capital comes to over 750 million euros. PGB’s assets therefore amount to approximately €10 billion. Grafische Bedrijfsfondsen (GBF) manages the administration of the pensions for PGB.

1 PGB is an industry pension fund for the graphics media and publishing industry. The fund exclusively administers the pensions of APW participants – around 40,000 employees from 2,650 employers. The entire participants’ base, including those entitled to pension benefit, totals some 80,000 (at the end of 2009). APW has approx. 12,000 participants, 3,800 of whom are in active service.
2 Koninklijke Wegener NV is a listed (Euronext) newspaper and multimedia company. Apeldoorn-based Wegener is a publisher of regional dailies and free local papers in the Netherlands. In addition, the company develops and commercialises internet products and services and provides graphic products and services.
